We would like to tell you about a professional recording studio. What’s the best way to build/soundproof it? How do you start?
The first step is to create a ‘box in a box’ structure for the studio walls. We used four layers, each drywall layer was spaced 4 centimeters. The drywall’s insulation capacity is enhanced by inserting rock wool mineral board (100kg/M2) between the boards. the result is an extremely powerful acoustic seal.
For perfect sound insulation, a tipical drop ceiling will not work. The best thing you can do is to install a suspended ceiling: all you need is sufficient head clearance. Then you can hang flat drywall panels below the ceiling and insert sound-absorbing materials (rockwool/aocustic fiberglass).
The last step is the soudproofing floor. There are many solutions, some cheaper than others. We selected the best: four layers of floating floor. We placed cement, lead, sand and chipoard in this order. We completed the job with natual wood flooring.
Now just choose the latest studio equipment for your recordinf studio… And you will be proud of the result!
What about you? How did you treat/soundproof your studio? Do you have any questions? Ask for advice and ‘tips’.
